Description
Crestwood, Inc., a manufacturer of fine custom cabinetry and related wood products in Salina, Kansas, is looking for a Department Manager with hands-on experience in finish applications on different wood species and manufacturing processes. Applicants with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Organizational Production principles are preferred.

The Crestwood Department Manager will lead the production areas for the Finish Division. The Finish Department Manager will have 35-45 employees working 4 - 10 hour Shifts, Monday through Thursday, with extended hours and Fridays, as needed. The Finish Department Manager oversees various schedules for Part-Time Flex, Part-Time Regular, Full-Time Regular, and Summer/Seasonal.

The Finish Department Manager ensures a consistently high-performance level that adds value to our customers by delivering consistently on-time, complete, and beautiful cabinetry. This position will provide employee and production leadership to continuously improve quality and process reliability and expand finish applications. 

Wage: Commensurate with Experience + Performance
Incentive: Eligible Biweekly Department

RESPONSIBILITY:
Department Manager Goals
  •    Create a productive work environment that follows safety standards.
  •    Accountable for meeting quality, productivity, delivery, and safety goals. 
  •    Set clear expectations for production areas and individual employees
  •    Provide employees with the tools and training required to be successful
Execute the Daily Production Schedule
  •     Lead and manage employees/work areas to help prepare, plan, and execute daily quotas.
  •     Adjust employee assignments and prioritize as needed to meet the production schedule.
  •     Identify, communicate, and problem-solve with other Department Managers and Plant Managers to obtain daily and weekly goals
Continuously Improve the Team
  •    Train employees and encourage teamwork and cross-training.
  •     Drive Continuous Process Improvement Mindset: Identify, communicate, and implement ways to improve processes and eliminate waste.
  •     Communicate process changes, new standards, and new expectations to employees and management.
  •     Observe, Identify, Detail and Solve Problems
Continuous Focus on Safety
  •     Responsible for Safety Inspections for the Finish Department areas
  •     Responsible for continuous cleanliness and organization of the Finish Department
  •     Responsible for Hazardous Waste Management and applicable Certifications and Training of Employees
  •     Responsible for monitoring the Finish Department for continuous compliance with applicable OSHA Regulations.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
  •     Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. 
  •     Able to build trust, communicate, and hold employees/work groups accountable to follow processes to achieve production goals
  •     Ensure production groups are on schedule; know when to make priority and personnel adjustments, as necessary
  •     Develop, lead, and coach work groups for maximum engagement and participation in pursuing objectives and goals.
  •     Woodworking and finish knowledge is a plus
  •     Able to communicate with any employee of the company via verbal or written standards
